Open Call: Community-Engaged Arts Workshop
Titled Community-Engaged Arts: Connecting People through Creative Approach & Education, this workshop is organised by Arts-ED to foster a community of practitioners who wish to harness the power of arts and creativity for social or educational transformation. It will bring together cross-sector professionals like artists, creatives, cultural workers and educators to plan and run community-based arts and culture projects.

Why join Workshop
Community-Engaged Arts: Connecting People through Creative Approach & Education will bring together an exciting and diverse pool of practitioners who are interested in people-centred learning and a focus on process rather than just product. The Workshop will place emphasis on understanding of communities, context and humanistic needs.
The Workshop has 2 compulsory components:
Training– Participants will go through a hands-on experiential workshop that introduces some of Arts-ED’s effective community-based arts and culture approaches and tools. Participants will not only be introduced to concepts but also get to test them out and receive feedback from facilitators and fellow practitioners.
Project Application – After the training sessions are completed, participants will form teams to carry out a community-based project using the knowledge and skills learned from the workshop.
Teams may choose to run either type of project and projects must be located in Penang:
A cultural mapping project with a pre-selected school (involving teachers and students)
A community-based project in a pre-selected site (involving members of the community).
