Journey of Harmony: Street Interpretation Project (2014 - 2015)
In 2014, Arts-ED initiated a street interpretation project along Street of Harmony (also known as Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling/ Pitt Street) in George Town by working closely with the local communities. The project is based upon a journey to understand community values and it explores the shared elements of cultural and religious practices of communities along the street.
The purpose is the project is:
To listen and understand the views and thoughts of the various communities and how they contribute to the cultural and religious life of Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.
To provide visitors and locals with a more memorable and complete experience as they visit the religious sites and walk along this street.
To promote a better understanding of the shared common elements among the various cultures and religions.
To facilitate artists, cultural and community workers to engage creatively with the local communities.
This project is managed by Arts-ED and supported by Think City.
