Community-Based Learning

What we offer

In keeping with the clear shift toward student-centred-learning as outlined in the 2013-2025 Malaysian Education Blueprint, this training helps educators adopt 21st-century teaching strategies and creative pedagogy to engage young learners. Educators will learn how to incorporate the element of place, community and local resources into their lessons. Educators will learn how to design, execute and evaluate a CBL project that is suited to their students and learning environment.

Who it is useful for

Educators who have interest in expanding their pedagogical tools and approach beyond a classroom setting.

Creative Capacity Building

What we offer

We provide training to build you and your team’s capacity in designing programs that are arts and culture oriented. This includes project coordination and facilitation skills for community based creative arts programmes. Depending on the needs, the training involves use of creative mediums such as games & toys, music, visual arts, dance, photography and videography. 

Who it is useful for

Community-based practitioners, artists and interested individuals who work with school children and residential communities in non-formal settings. The duration of the training can be from 2 hours to 3 days depending on your requirements.

Cultural Mapping

What we offer

This training is aimed at introducing the concept, methodology and use of Cultural Mapping. Cultural mapping is a way to identify, record and assess the cultural assets and resources of a place and a community. Data from cultural mapping provides in-depth understanding of a place and community and facilitates informed decision-making. The 3-5 day training includes theory and field practice and can be tailored to focus on environmental, social or economic assets (e.g. cultural practices, knowledge and skills, social organisation, buildings and spaces, livelihood activities and products, history, memory and stories etc.).

Who it is useful for

NGOs, citizen groups, academics or professionals who wish to know more about a place for the purpose of interpretation, promotion, intervention, planning or design.
