Community-Engaged Arts: Connecting People through Creative Approaches
May to November 2020
Arts-ED organized the Community-Engaged Arts: Connecting People through Creative Approaches Training Workshop involving 14 artists, cultural workers, and educators. The workshop aimed to cultivate a community of practitioners who employ artistic and creative approaches for social or educational transformation.
Through a thorough introduction to the concept of Community-Engaged Arts (CEA), case studies, hands-on tools and strategies, the trainees learned to plan, design, and implement CEA projects online and on-site.
Using the knowledge and skills acquired, the trainees developed a community-based arts and culture project each in Penang and Selangor. Click the link below to find out more about the projects in two communities.
Community: 30 young residents of Idaman Apartment.
Objective: To empower participants to map the positive and negatives practices at their play spaces, using play/games as a tool and creative pedagogy to build leadership quality among the participants to activate the three public play spaces which are under-utilized.
